Monday Made it

First of all I would just like to say WOOHOO 3 1/2 days left. Second, I am linking up with Tara at 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made it.

Let me start by saying that I am not really the crafty one in my family. My mom and sister are however and they help me make sure stuff for my room during the summer. I may not be the craftiest person in the world, but I still like to make an effort.

We are still in school this week, but last week I said goodbye to my reading class. I teach third grade, but for our reading block the second and third graders are mixed and leveled. I wanted to give them a little parting gift and this is what I came up with.

I made them these personalized homemade journals. I think they turned out super cute. Here's how I made them.

  • Cut a piece of card stock in half.
  • Wrap scrapbook paper around the card stock, glue with a glue stick and cut off the edges.

  • Here's what they look like when they are done. I used color coordinated pages and personalized the front with alphabet stickers.
  • Afterwards I whole punched the covers put a few pages of blank white paper inside.
  • Then I tied them together using this thin scrapbook wire.

  • Here's what they looked like on the inside.
So for this non-crafty persons first attempt I think they are pretty good. The kids loved them. I had this whole scavenger hunt planned that led to their gift. Afterwards they were getting all their classmates signatures. It was pretty cute.

So that that was my first made it Monday. I hope to link up for many more of these! Now I'm off to look at everyone else's ideas!

P.S I am a new blogger and would love some support! Become my newest follower!
