I'm a linking up for Fun Friday with the Second Grade Pad
We did some fun stuff today.
We've been learning about the life cycle of a frog. We've done some sorts in our science journals, watched some brain pop videos, and read some books. We've also learned some new vocabulary words. Like metamorphosis. Pretty cool.
We also made the life cycle out of play dough
Some of us can't seem to leave our books behind.
Here's a finished one.
I had my Frog life cycle posters hanging up next to where they were working so they could refer to them and use them to help them spell the words. These are available in my shop if you are planning a life cycles unit anytime soon.
We also finished reading James and the giant peach. Yesterday the kids shared their final projects. (a play, diorama, or interview) My kiddies really got into it. they were making costumes, writing scripts and constructing elaborate dioramas all week. Today we celebrated by watching the movie.
They were a little disappointed that one of their favorite scenes (the cloud men sequence) was cut from the movie, but overall they liked it.
And now for the sad part of fun Friday. We had heard the space shuttle Endeavor was going to be flying low passed our school at 11:30 on the back of a plane. So we all went outside to watch it. The whole school. We waited 45 minutes. In the 90 degree weather. The kids were sweating, they were restless. So we made the decision to go back inside. NOT 5 minutes later we heard the shuttle from the classroom. So disappointing. The worst part was that my kiddies had to hear how awesome it was the from the class across the hall, they got to see it from their window.
Here's a picture
Like I said it's been a long week, but a good week. Looking forward to the weekend for sure :-)
Enjoyed reading about your Friday.
